UPDATE ON POST-GRADUATION WORK PERMIT (PGWP)

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

On June 25, 2025, IRCC has released an important update regarding Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility for international students.

The list of eligible fields of study has been updated to align with the 2025 Express Entry priorities, resulting in the following changes:

119 new fields of study have been added in key sectors such as health care, social services, education, and trades.
178 fields of study that were no longer linked to occupations in long-term labour shortages have been removed.

As a result of these changes, there are now 920 fields of study eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Students who applied for a study permit before this date will still be eligible under the previous list.
